Audio Visual Borrowing Policy

Videotapes, CDs, and audiotapes can be borrowed for a 5-day period for faculty and staff. Faculty members are allowed to borrow three (3) videotapes at a time. All tapes in the Southern New Hampshire University videotape library are subject to copyright laws. NO COPYING OF VIDEO TAPES IS ALLOWED!!

THERE ARE THREE MAIN BORROWING FUNCTIONS:

  • In-House Reservation

Allows a faculty member to reserve a tape for a specific time period (one month, a semester, two weeks, etc.). If you want In-house reserve videotape, be sure to give at least a 72-hour notice to ensure receipt of the desired videotape. This applies to videos that are on reserve in the AV studio for a specific period of time; i.e., students come into the lab to watch a video assigned by a faculty member. Students may not take videotapes out of the lab. THERE ARE NO ACCEPTIONS. Students are required to leave their student ID with the AV staff while viewing the videotape. When the student returns the videotape, she/he will get her/his ID back. (FACULTY:IF YOU ASSIGN A TAPE FOR STUDENTS TO WATCH IN THE A/V MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENTS KNOW THE CATALOG # OR THE NAME OF THE TAPE)

  • Pick-up Reservation

This applies to videos that are on reserve in the AV studio for a specific date; i.e., faculty requires use of the tape for only one day for classroom viewing. This applies to Manchester Campus only.

  • Off Campus Reservation

If you teach at one of the off-campus centers (Salem, Nashua, Portsmouth, Laconia or Brunswick ME). You still have access to the SNHU videotape library. In order to borrow a tape you need to contact the office of the center where you are currently teaching:

            Salem: (603) 893-9600
            Dover: (603) 740-8516
            Nashua (603) 881-8393
            Portsmouth (603) 436-2831
            Laconia (603) 524-3527
            Brunswick, ME: (207) 725-6486

Provide a list of the videos that you need for your class and the center will fax the list to the A/V department. Be aware that the AV Center will only loan out theree tapes at a time. The tapes will be sent to the requesting campus a week before they are needed. Please be sure to return the videotapes to your center as soon as possible since tapes are in high demand.

A college ID must be provided in order to borrow any materials. If you've never borrowed from the SNHU AV Center before, please be prepared to provide the following information to an SNHU AV staff member so that we can add you to our customer database:

  •     name
  •     work phone number
  •     title
  •     location of employment
  •     department
  •     home phone
